Composed of a chair and four other members not more than three of whom shall be of the same political party as the chair. Term six years. Mayor appoints one member as Chair. Chair's term, separate from his or her term as a Commission member, is one-year. Salaries: Chair, $496.31 per diem; members, $455.70 per diem.

Functions as an administrative tribunal for individual appeals from disciplinary actions and appeals from decisions of the Commissioner of the Department of Citywide Administrative Services; and acts as guardian of the City's merit system.
