The Administrative Board of the Courts
Description
All courts in New York City are part of the state Unified Court System and function under the administrative supervision of the Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals, who is also the Chief Judge of the State. The Chief Judge appoints a Chief Administrator of the Courts (who is called the Chief Administrative Judge of the Courts if the appointee is a judge) with the advice and consent of the Administrative Board of the Courts. The Chief Administrator, on behalf of the Chief Judge, supervises the administration and operation of the trial courts and directs the Office of Court Administration (OCA). The Chief Judge establishes statewide administrative standards and policies after consultation with the Administrative Board and promulgates them after approval by the Court of Appeals. READ MORE |
