The Green Book Online is a fully searchable database. The following are a few quick tips to keep in mind when using the search function:

• Use very simple, preferably one word, search terms. The more specific the search term, the more specific the result.
  For example, if you are looking for a specific agency name such as NYS Department of Transportation, type Transportation. For a wider search, you can type NYS or New York State for all departments within New York State.
  
  
• Searches are not case sensitive.
  Children's Services, children's services, and ChilDren's SerVices will all return the same results.
  
  
• Punctuation marks (quote marks and parentheses) can alter your search results.
  If you are looking for Department of Correction (DOC), type Correction or DOC.
  
  
• The use of a dash is acceptable.
  In other words, Borough President - Manhattan will find precisely that, it will result in finding only the Borough President for Manhattan.
