An independent Authority, created by the State Legislature in 1988, responsible for the design, construction, modernization and rehabilitation of public schools in New York City. The Board of Trustees is composed of the Chancellor of the Department of Education, who serves as Chair, and two Trustees appointed by the Mayor. The Trustees are responsible for appointing a president who serves as Chief Executive Officer. Trustees receive no compensation except reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses incurred in the performance of their duties.
