A not-for-profit public benefit corporation created by the State Legislature in 1968, with the support of the City of New York, to provide commercial office space and other facilities for the United Nations community in New York.

Comprised of fifteen members: the Commissioner of the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), ex-officio; the Chair of the City Planning Commission (CPC), ex-officio; eight appointed by and serving at the pleasure of the Governor, five appointed by and serving at the pleasure of the Mayor after consultation with the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the United States Ambassador to the United Nations.

The Mayor designates the Chair, who appoints the President after consultation with the Mayor. Directors continue to serve until reappointment or until successors are appointed. Terms: three years.
