Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs (MOIA)

Established in Section 18 of the City Charter, the Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs is a bridge between City government and immigrant New Yorkers. The Office is responsible for advancing programs and policies in support of immigrant residents locally, and advocating for inclusive policies at the state and federal levels. The office’s work includes policy and legal analysis, public education, community outreach, language access for residents with limited English, and the oversight of programs like legal services and municipal ID. The office also works across City government to ensure immigrant New Yorkers are able to access the resources they need to thrive.
