Description

The Mayor's Office of Climate and Environmental Justice works to ensure that New York City is prepared to withstand and emerge stronger from the impacts of climate change; mitigate its greenhouse gas emissions; and address needed remediation and environmental coordination efforts from an equity and public health perspective. The office’s work includes prioritizing City resources and action in low-income and communities of color most vulnerable to climate change so they reap the benefits of a climate adapted future, including augmenting social service programs and community partnerships to create robust support networks. They Office focuses on sustainability in buildings, transportation, safe housing, renewable energy, waste, and other cross-cutting initiatives.
